The domain
Villers, a "country house" that is called a "castle"
Villers is not a castle like any other. At the time of its construction, in the early 17th century, it was described as a "country house," meaning a country home. It is a particularly harmonious ensemble of garden and buildings, a legacy of 17th-century Normandy, straddling the line between rural life and refined elegance. Both the buildings and the gardens rigorously combine practicality and pleasure, and this is what gives it its charm.

A bit of history
The Château de Villers-en-Ouche, located in the commune of La Ferté-en-Ouche in the Orne (61), is an estate from the beginning of the 17th century, built by the Baurepaire de Louvagny family, on the site of a fortified farm.
Its classical architecture, with a Mansard roof remodeled at the end of the 17th century, harmoniously blends stone and brick. Adorned with a 15th-century dovecote, the estate is set like a verdant jewel, revealed via a majestic avenue lined with centuries-old lime and chestnut trees.
Listed as a historical monument since 1974 and classified for its alcove room decorated with a rare 18th-century wallpaper, it offers a living testimony to Norman architectural history.
The estate offers a bucolic setting ideal for relaxation and family gatherings. Since 2019, it has hosted weddings and family celebrations, as well as outdoor film shoots, with on-site accommodation available. It is also open for visits on weekdays during July and September.

Commitment to Villers
For more than twenty years now we have been working tirelessly on the conservation and restoration of Villers, taking care of both the buildings and the park.
But there is still much to be done to save this authentic 17th-century estate.
The castle roof is at the end of its useful life, the 15th-century dovecote is in danger of collapsing, and despite all our determination to launch these major works, our resources are naturally limited.
Your support is essential to us
to save this unique witness to life in the Grand Siècle in the Pays d'Ouche, both rural and refined.
